THE PROBLEM
Marine battery failure is harder to solve once underway
Marine vessels depend on batteries for starting, navigation, communications, lighting, and onboard systems. When a battery fades, the cost of discovering the problem late can be much higher than finding it during planned service.
THE CADEX SOLUTION
Assess battery capacity before the vessel leaves the dock
Spectro™ CM-24 validates battery health by modeling the battery against a matrix to assess capacity, CCA, and state-of-charge. The marine source notes that custom matrices can support large vehicles, machinery, and marine vessels, including lead-acid and lithium-based chemistries.
HOW IT WORKS
Fast testing with cloud-ready records
The non-invasive test takes about 30 seconds and can be connected to a host by Bluetooth. Results can be stored locally or shared with CadexCloud, including status, charge level, resistance, temperature, VIN or asset records, and work orders. QR-coded vessel batteries can help retrieve history and model-specific matrices.
WHY IT MATTERS
Capacity is the practical health signal
The Spectro™ CM-24 tests battery health by modeling a battery against a matrix to validate Minimum Operational Reserve Energy (MORE) based on capacity, the leading health indicator. The 30-secong test is non-invasive. The pass/fail level for starter batteries on trucks is usually set to 50%. A PASS gives a grace period to next service; FAIL calls for replacement even if cranking is still strong. The Spectro™ CM-24 comes with a matrix of choice. Other matrices can be downloaded from the Matrix Library by the CadexCloud, a web app that also stores test results and vehicle numbers to share with owners and fleet supervisors. Batteries in commercial vessels can be QR-coded to review historic reading and download model-specific matrices by scanning. This feature turns the Spectro™ CM-24 into an open platform to test virtually any battery.
