Chargers for 'smart' batteries
Cadex SM Series battery chargers offer a continuous supply of freshly charged batteries for laptops, biomedical and survey instruments. Conforming to the SMBus Level 3, the Cadex SM Series chargers service lithium-ion, nickel-metal-hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries in 2-3 hours.
The SM Series chargers are compatible with the 5-prong blade connector by AMP and accommodate SMBus and non-SMBus batteries with the following formats: 2020, 1030, 1020, 210, 202, 201, 36, 35, 30, 17 and 15.

Cadex SM2+ Charger
The two-bay Cadex SM2+ serves as charger, conditioner
and quality control system. The charger reads the reserve capacity delivered
during the previous application and compares it with the charger's target
capacity setting. A slide switch on the side of the unit enables settings
of 60%, 70% or 80%, representing fractions of the 100% nominal capacity level.
On insufficient reserve capacity, the charger triggers the 'Condition' light
to prompt a calibration and conditioning discharge.
To service the battery, the user presses the ‘Condition’ button, which initiates a full discharge-charge cycle. If the battery meets or exceeds the target capacity, the green ready light illuminates when fully charged. A red light indicates that the battery can no longer hold the required reserve capacity and prompts for replacement.
Non-SMBus batteries can also be charged but the state-of-health information is not available. Each bay operates independently.
