Special Features
The Cadex C7000 Series battery analyzer offers many advanced features
normally not found on competitive units.
Security code safeguards against tampering
The C7000 Series offers password protection. Being able to lock the analyzer
minimizes staff training and prevents unauthorized changes of critical settings.
The analyzer offers three security levels:

Performs battery lifecycle tests
The Lifecycle test program automatically cycles a battery to the end-of-life,
recording capacity, internal resistance, temperature and other parameters through
PC-BatteryShop™ as the battery is being stressed. A counter indicates
the number of charge/discharge cycles the battery can endure before the battery
capacity drops to the preset target level. Varying the end-of-discharge voltage
threshold enables different depth-of-discharge conditions.
Reverse Load Charge improves charge efficiency
A nickel-based battery combines oxygen and hydrogen more easily if the
charge is applied in pulse form with a brief discharge pulse interspersed
in between the pulses. The Reverse Load Charge feature of the C7000 Series
uses the method to improve charge efficiency, reduce memory and increase
battery life.
Adjustable Target Capacity sets battery pass/fail criteria
The Target Capacity allows customizing performance criteria. Increasing
the threshold above 80% produces tighter tolerances; lower settings provide
longer service life with less stringent performance standards.
Recondition restores nickel-based batteries
Capacity loss on nickel-based batteries is often reversible with a discharge
cycle to 1V/cell (Exercise). In many cases, Exercise alone is not sufficient
and Recondition is required. Recondition is a deep discharge that dissolves
the crystalline formation or memory. The chart shows the capacity gain achieved
on batteries with memory. A further improvement was possible on a new battery.
Standby mode keeps batteries fresh
Nickel-based batteries should not sit in chargers for any length of time.
This poses a problem if the batteries are needed for operational readiness.
The Standby mode of the C7000 Series automatically cycles a battery every
30 days to prevent memory. The LCD displays the last four capacity readings
while retaining the original reading as reference. Only one battery of a
multi-analyzer system is put on discharge at any given time.
Menu functions allow intuitive operation
The menu tree below demonstrates
the extent of available function and the ease by which the settings can
be made. All C7000 Series models use the same menu function.
