Cadex C7000 Series Battery Analyzers

Battery Maintenance for Hospitals
Assuring Equipment Readiness
The battery in a medical device plays a pivotal role in delivering reliable patient care. The Cadex C7400ER battery analyzer fulfills this role by assuring that all batteries meet the specified runtime criterion.

Why Battery Maintenance is so important

The READY light on a charger does not indicate how much energy the battery can hold and how long it will run.

The amount of energy a battery can store gradually decreases with usage and age. Medical staff is often unaware of capacity fade and continue deploying the battery, compromising reliability.
Batteries for medical equipment should be replaced when the capacity drops from the original 100% to 80%. A battery analyzer can identify the end-of-life point.

Battery Quality Assurance

The battery causes failures and medical equipment is not exempt. Regulatory agencies emphasize equipment readiness; medical staff supports battery maintenance, saying, “Any rumor relating to failing batteries is eliminated.”
Battery maintenance also saves money by evaluating batteries from other vendors, performing incoming QA, conditioning batteries to prolong life and keeping the packs until the useful life is exhausted. Hospitals deploying the Cadex battery analyzer say they would not be without it.

Five Tips to Service Hospital Batteries
  1. Check incoming batteries before placing them in service; return marginally performing batteries to vendor (one-third of new batteries may not meet the specified capacity level).
  2. Prime new lead acid batteries to maximize capacity;condition nickel-based to reverse capacity fade, and verify lithium-ion for conductivity and capacity levels.
  3. Treat a battery like any other medical device. Keep track of the vendor, price, purchase date, start date, performance history and retirement.
  4. Do not replace a battery based on the date-stamp; rely on the performance instead. A pack may fail before expiry date, however, most will last twice as long, saving money and reducing waste.
  5. Examine the runtime criterion of each operation and establish the minimal acceptable capacity for the application. Follow these requirements when replacing the battery.

Choosing the right Analyzer
The Cadex C7000 Series battery analyzers perform the above-mentioned functions with minimal effort. Automated programs permit plug-and-play; manual operation enables setting of unique parameters. You have three models to choose from:

Cadex C7200:   This two-station battery analyzer provides 40 watts of charge power at 4A per station. The maximum battery voltage is 16V.
Cadex C7400:    This is the most economical battery analyzer in terms of cost per station. It offers 80 watts of charge power at 4A per station and 16V.
Cadex C7400ER:   At 170 watts of charge power, 6A per station and a battery voltage of up to 36V, this battery analyzer is best suited for medical batteries.

SnapLock™ Battery Adapters simplify service
Cadex SnapLock™ adapters provide fast and convenient battery interface. Choose from 1000 Custom Battery Adapters or use a Universal Adapter.

Custom Battery Adapters
automatically configure the analyzer to the correct setting. These are most practical for medical batteries.

Universal Adapters
offer a cost-effective alternative to service less common batteries. Magnetic guides keep the battery in position; the gold-plated contacts are user-replaceable.

The FlexArm™ is adjustable to accommodate a large variety of battery types The RigidArm™ is best suited for small batteries requiring precise setting.

The Smart Cable services larger batteries placed outside the analyzer.

Computerized Battery Maintenance System

With BatteryShop™, you control the analyzers from a PC. The database of 2000 batteries can easily be extended to include your own battery types. Clicking the mouse on the selected battery configures the analyzer.

The program sequence can be customized, the charge termination modified and the end-of-charge and discharge defined. BatteryShop™ is designed for up to 120 C7000 Series battery analyzers.

Streamline Battery Service with Labels

Attaching a small battery label containing service date, due date and capacity reading greatly simplifies battery management. Only batteries with valid service date and sufficient capacity are placed in circulation; all others are separated for service and revalidation.

What others say…

“Cadex Battery Analyzers are the only product on the market that truly maintains our wide variety of batteries. Their versatility, reliability, programmability, and ease of use are second to none. Our hospital depends on the information from the analyzer and could not function without them.”
