Spectro™ Test Platform for Lead Acid Batteries

The Spectro™ CA-12 is the first hand-held battery tester that reads capacity (Ah), CCA, and state-of-charge (SoC) by a single, non-invasive 15-seconds test.

The instrument is based on multi-model electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (Spectro™), a method that was reserved to laboratory environments and a team of trained staff. The Spectro CA-12 makes the technology portable, affordable and simple to use.

Overview

Spectro CA-12 is a battery rapid-tester that reads capacity, CCA, and state-of-charge (SoC) in a non-invasive 15-seconds test using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). EIS is not new; size, high cost, long test times and special skills required to read the codes kept this technology in laboratories.

EIS should not to be mistaken with impedance testing that only reads the internal battery resistance. Batteries have improved and resistance-related failures are isolated. The leading health of a battery lays in capacity.

To make capacity measurements possible, Cadex expanded on EIS and developed multi-model electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (Spectro™). The Spectro CA-12 scans the battery with 20-2,000 Hertz signals, but the heart lies in the patented algorithm that complies 40 million transactions during the short test. There are no comparable products on the market.

  • Spectro™ is a further development of EIS to measure battery capacity
  • Advanced algorithm shortens the normally long test time with EIS to seconds
  • DSP technology shrinks complex circuitry to fit in a small, elegant hand-held device
  • Impedance methods only finds resistance-related faults that are rare with modern batteries
  • Spectro™ change the way batteries are tested
