Quality Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join our growing organization. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the successful candidate will playa key role within the Cadex manufacturing team. With strong organizational and problem solving skills, this individual will perform a “hands on” role contributing and supporting the transfer of product design from development to manufacturing, maintenance and improvement of production processes at Cadex Canada, and management of domestic and off-shore suppliers.


Responsibilities:
  • Lead manufacturing process risk assessment, validations and CAPA
  • Lead supplier quality audits, assessing supplier quality performance and managing supplier CAPA
  • Contribute to manufacturing process improvement
  • Create and maintain product inspection criteria.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma in science or engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3 -5 years experience in design and manufacturing environment, i.e. GMP, ISO 13485, ISO 9001
  • CQE designation
  • Experience with APQP / PPAP and /or IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Performed /created PFMEA, process control plan, GRR/MSA, process capability study
  • Knowledge and use of applied statistics in a manufacturing environment (e.g. SPC) using statistical software such as MINITAB
  • Familiarity with and applied workmanship standards such as IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620
  • Experience with supplier auditing
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A critical thinker with strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Well organized with a reputation of meeting project deadlines and goals
  • A hands-on individual who enjoys working in a team environment
  • Conversant in Mandarin is an asset.

Senior Embedded Software or Firmware Engineers

We are currently seeking experienced Senior Embedded Software / Firmware Engineers , to join our growing organization.

You will be expected to design, code, integrate and document firmware for new battery maintenance and analysis tools, as well as BMS, Fuel Gauges for custom battery packs. You may also be asked to help resolve technical issues that arise with legacy products.

We are also very interested in speaking with designers with experience in the Internet of Things (IoT), device connectivity and cloud systems as we embark on a new generation of Cadex products. Prior experience with providers of cloud services for data collection and distribution would be a big asset.


Responsibilities:
  • Development of software and firmware, through definition, design, coding, verification and product integration
  • Participate in the creation of innovative products
  • Embedded Linux, RTOS and possibly Android experience desirable
  • Support firmware updates in existing products
  • May work as part of a team on larger projects, or individually on smaller ones

Experience & Capability Requirements:
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience with Software/Firmware design
  • Minimum of 6+ years software and firmware design experience in a product development company. Must have completed some products, and seen them shipped to customers
  • A passion for keeping up with technology and development tools
  • CREATIVITY and thinking outside the box!
  • Familiar with various software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc)
  • Must have embedded Linux or RTOS, assembler, C, C++ experience
  • Nice to have: an understanding in any of the following: cloud-based architectures, power electronics, switching power supplies, Battery Fuel Gauges, DSP technology, FFTs, fuzzy logic or embedded systems, Embedded Web Server Design, Database Architectures
  • Ability to read and understand schematics for embedded designs
  • Strong understanding of latest development tools for planning, design, implementation, maintenance, verification, debug and troubleshooting of software systems
  • Must have excellent communications and planning skills.
  • Proven experience at managing multi-contributor software or firmware projects, while developing an environment for innovation and creativity
  • Familiarity with IEC62304 or equivalent structured development, proper coding standards in an ISO9001 design environment.

Battery Pack Designer / Engineer

Cadex is expanding its Mobile Power Solutions business.

Our rapidly growing battery pack design and manufacturing business for medical, safety, military and other mission critical markets is looking for a skilled and experienced Battery Pack Engineer for Applications Engineering, Design and Manufacturing implementation with customer interaction and project management skills.

Position Overview

The Battery Pack Engineer will be the cornerstone of our Battery business unit. This position will initially report to the Director of Product Line Management and Strategy, but will interact heavily with the Battery Pack Sales Team, Engineering Manufacturing, Quality and the COO. We are looking for a well-rounded, high energy Engineer who can take responsibility for:
  • Converting sales inquiries into proposals with cost, timeline and design concept solutions
  • Working with customers to analyze their application and help them understand what they really need.
  • Execute/Oversee the Electrical/HW/FW/BMS/Mechanical/Manufacturability… design in cooperation with other Cadex Engineers through to manufacturing release
  • Project Manage the design process including safety certifications and regulatory compliance with the help of our QM-Team and our NPI-Team
Requirements
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or equivalent experience
  • At least 5+ years related experience in Battery Pack Design and Manufacturing e.g. with a Pack-Assembler
  • Experienced with cost effective BMS, Safety and Fuel Gauge devices for battery packs
  • A proven track record at completing hardware design, debug and introduction into manufacturing facilities
  • Strong technical design skills with a combination of electronics and mechanical design
  • Experience with firmware development for microprocessors desirable
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process for battery packs and the ability to support the team in optimizing critical manufacturing steps (e.g. spot welding)
  • Experience with systems for charging and testing batteries and/or design of power electronics highly desirable
  • Understanding of Safety Agency requirements and how to design for compliance
  • Understanding of EMI / EMC requirements and how to mitigate
  • Experience with DC electric drive systems, is a plus
  • Strong understanding of the product development life cycle, knowing how to bring a product to completion and to market
  • Well organized with a reputation of meeting project deadlines and goals
  • A hands-on individual who enjoys working in a team environment
