Electronics Engineering Technologist - Lab Tech.

We are currently searching for an experienced Electronics Engineering Technologist to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will work in our engineering lab, on a variety of new products as well as provide support and maintenance for existing products. As part of the position, you will be expected to assist in the bring-up / prototyping / assembly / verification of new products and circuit boards. You will also be responsible for maintaining the engineering lab, tools and equipment. You will be involved from prototyping of new product ideas, all the way to their transition into our manufacturing group and beyond.

  • Completed a post-secondary diploma in Electronics Technology or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3+ years related experience
  • Firm understanding of Digital and Analog electronics
  • Experience with schematic and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Excellent hands-on debugging and repair skills
  • Excellent soldering skills
  • Ability to quickly read and interpret schematics
  • Experience generating BOMs, sourcing components, finding second sources, understanding component specifications and interacting with component vendors & suppliers
  • Willingness to assist with formal verification of products and documenting the test results in formal reports.
  • Skilled with standard test equipment, including meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, data loggers, logic analyzers, etc
  • A great attitude and energy to burn!

Some firmware or software programming experience would be an asset but not necessary
Experience with Labview would be an asset
Should have worked with microprocessor circuits, memory products, digital logic as well as analog and power electronics
Should be able to work with minimal supervision, capable of managing his/her time and dealing with requests from multiple sources, clarifying priorities and meeting commitments
You will be responsible for keeping the Engineering lab well organized, sourcing equipment and sending it out for calibration or service as required
Requires an individual who enjoys working in a team environment
Preference will be given to candidates already located in the lower mainland.

Battery Pack Designer / Engineer

Position Overview

The Battery Pack Engineer will be the cornerstone of our Battery business unit. This position will initially report to the Director of Product Line Management and Strategy, but will interact heavily with the Battery Pack Sales Team, Engineering Manufacturing, Quality and the COO. We are looking for a well-rounded, high energy Engineer who can take responsibility for:
  • Converting sales inquiries into proposals with cost, timeline and design concept solutions
  • Working with customers to analyze their application and help them understand what they really need.
  • Execute/Oversee the Electrical/HW/FW/BMS/Mechanical/Manufacturability… design in cooperation with other Cadex Engineers through to manufacturing release
  • Project Manage the design process including safety certifications and regulatory compliance with the help of our QM-Team and our NPI-Team
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or equivalent experience
  • At least 5+ years related experience in Battery Pack Design and Manufacturing e.g. with a Pack-Assembler
  • Experienced with cost effective BMS, Safety and Fuel Gauge devices for battery packs
  • A proven track record at completing hardware design, debug and introduction into manufacturing facilities
  • Strong technical design skills with a combination of electronics and mechanical design
  • Experience with firmware development for microprocessors desirable
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process for battery packs and the ability to support the team in optimizing critical manufacturing steps (e.g. spot welding)
  • Experience with systems for charging and testing batteries and/or design of power electronics highly desirable
  • Understanding of Safety Agency requirements and how to design for compliance
  • Understanding of EMI / EMC requirements and how to mitigate
  • Experience with DC electric drive systems, is a plus
  • Strong understanding of the product development life cycle, knowing how to bring a product to completion and to market
  • Well organized with a reputation of meeting project deadlines and goals
  • A hands-on individual who enjoys working in a team environment
